The newsletter of this month brings you the story of Ioana Daniela Petrică, dearly named Alumnica by the people from AIESEC Iaşi. What made her appear on the local television? The fact that she had the courage to leave for 6 months in an Exchange program in… Afghanistan.
During October 2009 - March 2010 she was the Director of Business Development and delivered soft skills trainings –like Time Management, Organisational Behaviour, Business Communication and Goal Setting for a group of 20 people. She was also responsible of the Project Management Higher Education Portal - upgrading the portal of Ministry of Higher Education.
What does she have to say about this step in her life?
“Kabul, Afghanistan, Altitude: 1800 m. A lot of dust, another religion, other customs, a lot of men and very few women. A lot of cars, roads with no crossroads, clay houses near residential palaces. A lot of cops, guns in their hands and waiting to check your car.
For 6 months I didn’t get out of the house without a scarf covering my hair, I wore large clothes and I had 
my dinner on the floor.
I met extraordinary people and made some friends for life. I had lunch with general Stanley McChrystal – Commander ISAF(International Security Assistance Force) – NATO and I celebrated Christmas together with the Romanian soldiers from Afghanistan.
For me this experience was a true maturing process, a life lesson which made me stronger, and helped surpass my own limits.” (Ioana Daniela Petrică - AESEC Exchange Participant in Afghanistan )

Newsletter-ul de luna aceasta vă aduce povestea Ioanei Daniela Petrică, cunoscută în AIESEC Iaşi drept Alumnica. Ce a făcut-o pe ea să apară la televiziunea locală? Faptul că avut curajul să plece pentru 6 luni într-un stagiu de practică în Afghanistan.
În perioada Octombrie 2009 – Martie 2010 a fost Director de Dezvoltare al Afacerilor şi a ţinut sesiuni de training pe Time Management, Comportament Organizaţional, Comunicare în Afaceri şi Goal Setting pentru 20 de persoane. De asemenea, a fost responsabilă de administrarea portalului Ministerului de Educaţie superioară.
Ce are ea de spus despre acest pas din viaţa ei?
“Kabul, Afghanistan – 1800 de metri altitudine, foarte mult praf, altă religie, alte obiceiuri, mulţi bărbaţi, puţine femei. Foarte multe maşini, drumuri fără treceri pentru pietoni, case din lut, palate rezidenţiale, centre comerciale. La fiecare intersecţie 2-3 poliţişti cu armele în mână care te aşteaptau pentru a-ţi verifica maşina .
Timp de 6 luni nu am ieşit din casă neînsoţită şi fără o esarfă care să-mi acopere părul, am purtat haine lungi şi largi, am luat cina pe jos.
Am cunoscut oameni extraordinari şi am legat prietenii pe viaţă. Am luat prânzul cu Generalul Stanely McChrystal – Comandant al ISAF International Security Assistance Force – NATO şi am sărbătorit Crăciunul alături de soldaţii români din Afghanistan.
Pentru mine această experienţa a fost un adevărat proces de maturizare, o lecţie de viaţă, care m-a făcut să devin mai puternică, să-mi depăşesc propriile limite.” (Ioana Daniela Petrică - participant al programului Exchange din AIESEC în Afghanistan)
